Sage III System Administrator

Systems Administrator with the AFS and Kerberos infrastructure for the main campus systems, including backups and system configuration management. Development of documentation and internal training, including instructing.

Remote support of OpenAFS for a variety of clients, including telephone support and remote upgrades of services. Development and instruction of on-site training courses, including "hands-on" training.

Coordinated the development and implementation of a database to track system inventory, network configurations and activations throughout the life of every machine. Managed all OpenAFS issues, including multiple server upgrades, user support, backups, troubleshooting and long-term planning. Tracked and analyzed issues with the first Teraflop speed computing system for its first two years. Supported third party software and the structure to maintain integrity across platforms.

Supported distributed Library Information System. Coordinated software releases and support for various sites. Handled user support via on-line and phone systems. Helped track bug reports and patches. Lead for all security issues and incidents. Advised in purchase of all new Unix-based equipment.

Maintained over 50 computers in public-client and server configurations. Coordinated software releases. Worked with campus networking staff to design and implement network topology. Designed and supervised the creation of a specialized monitoring tool for the Operations staff. Supported small staff of work-study students.

Primary on-call for the main campus computing environment ("Andrew"). Assisted system maintainers with AFS administration. Helped maintain the campus-wide electronic mail delivery system. Created documentation for internal reference manuals and training. Designed and taught classes for internal and external clients. Analyzed system problems and determined appropriate actions. Trained new operations staff and supervised student operators.
